A Testimonial to be proud of :
It is with much sadness that I am letting you know that Lisa and Toby won’t be returning to music with you next year as we are relocating to NSW. After five years of lessons with you, you have become a regular part of Lisa and Toby'’s lives and they will miss you too.
Peter and I can’t thank you enough for how you have taught, supported and encouraged our children in their love of music. The style of your program is awesome and exactly what we, as parents, wanted for our children. Teaching them to love music, to have fun with music and appreciate music at their own pace. And also we appreciate the time and effort that has gone into your music theory books and songs, also a unique specialty and so valuable for laying the foundations of their music knowledge. You are definitely going to be a hard act to follow !
Kind Regards Joanne and Peter Thomson
Christensen's have innovative classes and learning material to develop a young child's natural 'ear', feel and rhythmic abilities when first learning a musical instrument. Children play along on their instrument to stimulating song accompaniments for achieving this purpose. Music theory and reading of music is approached through easy fun quizzes and songs.
Read our blog on Age / Instrument Information
We recommend our small group classes for children of this age but we can also provide individual lessons in certain circumstances.
Instrument Rental is available at very reasonable rates so parents can see how children progress before buying an instrument.
Small Group Classes
In our small group classes we take 3 children maximum per class. We can mix the instruments within a class with compatible learning material specially developed by Christensen's. Learning in a group class enables young children to develop musicianship skills and confidence at playing along with other children as well as the skills specific to their instrument. Sometimes we can accommodate siblings in the same class depending on their age and level.
Age / Instrument Information
Children's physical capabilities from 6 to 7 years of age allow them to learn Guitar, Ukulele, Keyboard / Piano and Violin. At 8 years they may also be able to handle Flute, Clarinet or Saxophone. Free assessments can be given if necessary !
Some young children may still be too young to focus and apply themselves to learning an instrument or unsure of which instrument they'd like to learn. If this is the case our popular 'Music Discovery' classes may be ideal for your child at this point.
Class Duration & Times
Each lesson is 30 minutes in duration. Class times vary but are generally held on week-day afternoons and evenings. Many of our classes become fully booked so we ask parents to be as flexible as you can with days and times to help us accommodate your child.
Lesson fees are payable on a term basis or for the remainder of a term, on or before the first lesson. Lesson fees exclude books or learning material. Payment arrangements can be made for term fees in certain circumstances.
