Learning to play guitar or a similar string instrument is within reach of everyone with a musical inclination. Whether you are looking for Guitar lessons, Bass Guitar lessons or Ukulele lessons for yourself or a child, we teach them all !
There are many reasons why Christensen’s lessons are so popular but one of the main factors is that we produce our own guitar song books with great play-along accompaniments. For beginners in particular this is an invaluable aid for learning strumming and developing good rhythmic abilities. It also helps to develop a players musical ear. Furthermore playing a musical instrument to accompaniment makes practicing so much more enjoyable .. you feel like you’re in a band !
Christensen’s make learning to play guitar a fun and creative experience for children. Our guitar lessons offer a thorough balance in guitar playing skills including chord and rhythm playing, reading guitar tablature, playing melody and tunes, finger-picking and basic improvisation. Singing to their learning songs is also supported and encouraged as this is a natural way of developing a child’s voice pitch and general musical abilities.
In addition, children will learn about essential elements of music theory relevant for guitar, which is often overlooked by many guitar teachers and schools.
Small group classes for children ensure each child receives adequate individual attention without the distractions of a larger group class, but they still benefit from the interaction and synergy of learning in a group with other children. Our class sizes are limited to 2 to 3 children maximum ! We also produce songs and learning material that is compatible with other instruments so we can mix instruments within a class which develops a child’s musicianship skills and confidence at playing with other young musicians. Individual children’s guitar tuition is also available if required. All children’s lessons are on a term basis.
If your child is 7 years or under you may wish to also visit our Music Discovery Classes page.
